In a world where we are increasingly conducting our lives in the online space, the EMoTICON Network is for all those interested into research into Empathy and Trust in Online Communication.
It was established after the UK Research Councils (ESRC, AHRC and EPSRC) ran a five-day residential ‘sandpit’ in January 2014, involving academics and industry partners from across the UK to identify and explore the key issues relating to empathy and trust in online communication.
As a result five research projects were funded, as well as this network, whose purpose is to enable the sharing of information across the projects and to maximize opportunities for impact resulting from the research. In addition the Network seeks to create a wider community of people researching in this field and always welcomes new members.
The network runs an annual conference, workshops, seminars and facilitates networking opportunities. It also manages a small fund to support new research in the field.
